By a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, March 22 is celebrated every year as World Water Day, with a different theme each year. Although the global water and sanitation crisis affects the entire world, women and girls are among the groups most affected. Inequalities in access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services directly and negatively impact women’s and girls’ health, education, participation in the workforce, and social life.

In this context, the 2026 World Water Day theme has been determined as “Water and Gender.” To raise awareness and draw attention to this issue, a Poster, Photography, and Short Film Competition is being organized. The competition is open to creative and original works that highlight the importance of gender equality in access to water.

Participants who wish to join the competition must submit their works by February 13, 2026, together with the application form and consent letter, to dunyasugunu@dsi.gov.tr
All details and the competition guidelines are available at www.dsi.gov.tr.
